Kate Kellaway sees a preview of the boy wizard’s fifth film, the Order of the Phoenix, and finds that Hogwarts still enchants

The Observer
Daniel Radcliffe has a look, on his often inexpressive face, that seems to say: it is hard being Harry Potter, you never know what is coming next. And this has never been truer than in the fifth Potter film, in which Harry - one suddenly notices - has a tiny speaking part and where actions speak far louder than words. The special-effects are to die - or, possibly, to live - for. There is a sublime night flight on broomsticks over the Thames, whooshing past the Houses of Parliament that would, on its own, make the film worth watching. The Dementors are straight out of Gustave Dore with their grey talons and smoky breath. And there is an indoor firework display chez Hogwarts that will turn all our future November 5ths into damp squibs.

Daniel Radcliffe wore padded underwear to protect manhood on …

Saturday, June 30th, 2007

Daniel Radcliffe had to wear padded underwear to protect his manhood while

filming the latest ‘Harry Potter’ movie. The 17-year-old actor also needed easy access stripper-style trousers for

scenes in which the teenage wizard takes to the skies on his broomstick. Radcliffe said, “I had padded shorts under my trousers. I also (wore) other

trousers that must have belonged to the Chippendales because they’ve got

Velcro that rips apart to get the harness on for flying, then sticks back

together.”

Nightmares and a new teacher haunt Daniel Radcliffe in new "Potter" film.
Things are indeed getting darker in the world of Potter. In "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix," both the mood and color scheme are grim, gray and black. There is pink, as a matter of fact, but this belongs to the first female villain of the literary and film series.

SEE VIDEO: Harry Potter’s first kiss

Saturday, June 30th, 2007

Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe reveals he wasn’t worried about his first screen kiss because getting his wand out on the West End stage was more nerve-racking.

The 17-year-old stars in a kissing scene with newcomer Katie Lueng in the fifth HP film, out next month.

But he says the kiss wasn’t as emotionally stressful as his nude part in the play Equus.
