RADCLIFFE DENIES CONSUMING ALCOHOL AT CRICKET MATCH

Wednesday, July 25th, 2007

HARRY POTTER star DANIEL RADCLIFFE has denied reports he was drinking alcohol while watching a cricket match on Monday afternoon (23Jul07).
Radcliffe - who turned 18, the legal drinking age in Britain, on Monday - claimed reports suggesting he had indulged in his first alcoholic beverage at England’s Lord’s cricket ground are unfounded - because he didn’t start celebrating until much later.
After watching England play India, the young actor made his way to a private members’ club in the trendy Soho area of London, where he partied into the early hours with friends - watched over by his parents Alan and Marcia.
Desperate to maintain his clean-cut image as the boy wizard, his publicist Vanessa Davies says, “He was absolutely not drinking Fosters or any other lager (at the cricket ground).
“The question as to whether Daniel was or wasn’t drinking alcohol at his birthday party last night, I am not willing to discuss. Daniel is now 18 and the question of whether he chooses to consume alcohol at a private function or not is completely up to him.”
