Harry Potter Book Ending Gives Bookmaker Headache (Update1)

Aug. 8 (Bloomberg) — William Hill Plc, a London-based
bookmaker, will pay out on a number of bets on the fate of Harry
Potter because of an “ambiguous ending'' to the seventh and
final novel about the boy wizard. The bookmaker repaid 50,000 pounds ($101,060) in wagers and
a further 40,000 pounds to fans who either bet that he died,
killed himself or was killed by his nemesis Lord Voldemort.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

Los Angeles - Harry Potter is set for success at the first ever Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards to be held in the UK after receiving four nominations.
‘Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix’ - the fifth instalment in the series - will battle it out against three other popular fantasy films ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End’, ‘Shrek the Third’ and ‘The Simpsons Movie’ in the Best Movie category.

If further proof was needed that Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe has left behind the world of magic and spells, surely pictures of him sporting a moustache should do the trick.

In his first TV drama role since finding fame as the schoolboy wizard, Radcliffe, who turned 18 last month, stars in the World War One film, ‘My Boy Jack’ where he trades his school uniform for the rather more mature attire of the Irish Guards.

was so desperate to know if his boy wizard character would make it to the end of the seven-book series, he begged author
J.K. Rowling
to tell him his fate over dinner.
Ironically, Rowling had taken the teenager out for a meal to discuss the character Radcliffe plays on the big screen. But she was left mumbling answers over the dinner table at a posh restaurant when the young actor hit her with questions about Potter’s fate in “The Deathly Hallows.”
