Naomi Campbell has undergone a mystery emergency operation in Brazil. The supermodel, 37, is said to have flown in from London especially for the surgery at Sao Paulo’s Sirio Libanes Hospital.

According to one of her doctors, she underwent a laparoscopy - a technique used for stomach operations.

An Austrian woman who argued she was owed labour protection because she was fired while pursuing in vitro fertilization has seen her claim rejected by the EU.

The Salzburg woman argued that she was technically already pregnant when her eggs were fertilized - but not yet implanted - and hence was entitled to full pay and protection from dismissal under EU labour legislation.

Daniel Radcliffe has splashed out $4.9 million on another New York apartment. The ‘Harry Potter’ actor already owns a two-bedroom $4.3 million Manhattan home, but has now purchased a three-bedroom property in the cosmopolitan city. Radcliffe will live in the apartment when he starts his Broadway run in ‘Equus’ in September. The 2,450-square-foot property faces the Hudson River and boasts a view of New York Harbor.

The Harry Potter actor won the Theatre Event of the Year gong at the Whatsonstage Theatergoers’ Choice Awards.
Radcliffe was also named Newcomer of the Year.
Speaking after the awards, Radcliffe said: “I’m truly delighted and thank everyone so much for voting for me.
Equus
is a tremendous and thought-provoking play and I’m so proud and honoured to have been a part of this incredible production.”

They could not contrast more: the happy exuberance of youth and family in Hairspray and their tortured unhappiness in Equus. But theatregoers loved them both and they are today named as the big winners in the only major theatre awards decided on by the public.
The eight-year-old whatsonstage.com awards are followed in two weeks by the prestigious Olivier awards, but they can claim to be the people’s choice. More than 25,000 people voted online in the last two months, more than twice as many as last year.
