A British gap-year student missing in Africa and feared killed was last night revealed as alive and well - but detained by the authorities in France. And even as his parents exclusively told The Mail on Sunday of their relief, some worrying questions were emerging about the disappearance of former chorister Aydan Savaskan, 20, who had been in Kenya on an organised volunteer placement.

His story may serve as a stark warning to parents who think their children are safe on “structured” gap-year trips abroad.

Rupert Grint not ready to appear naked

Rupert Grint has admitted that he would be reluctant to strip on-stage like his
Harry Potter
co-star Daniel Radcliffe.
Radcliffe appeared naked in West End play

last year, and he is set to take on the role of Alan Strang again when the production moves to Broadway in the autumn.
During an interview on
Al Murray’s Happy Hour
, which was broadcast last night, Grint was asked if he would consider stripping for a role.

For those who remember, he was the young boy who gets the girl in the film Love Actually. For those who don’t, Thomas Sangster may yet become a household name. The sixth-former from south London, the Guardian can reveal, has been chosen by Steven Spielberg to be his Tintin for a three-movie adaptation of the boy reporter’s adventures. The trilogy is likely to give the 17-year-old the same profile as Daniel Radcliffe, aka Harry Potter, or Elijah Wood, who shot to international stardom as Frodo Baggins in the Lord of the Rings series.

Daniel Radcliffe’s friends are pleading with him to quit his “disgusting” 20-a-day cigarette habit. The 18-year-old actor - who is currently filming ‘Harry Potter and the

Half-Blood Prince’ - has become so addicted to nicotine he has been nicknamed ‘Harry Puffer’ by his co-stars. A source said: “Daniel has been smoking up to 20 cigarettes a day. Every time they call ‘cut’, he lights up. It’s disgusting. Friends, including co-stars Rupert Grint and Emma Watson, have been warning him about the dangers of smoking.
