, being of a generation that can’t tell one teenage star from another, but I was stunned by the photo by Ethan Hill that accompanied Sarah Lyall’s article on the front page of your section last Sunday.
It has the profound, contemplative quality of a Rembrandt portrait, especially in the interplay of light and shadow on the face, the blending of the subject into the dark background, and the direct but enigmatic gaze of the subject. Thank you for enlivening the sometimes mundane and often depressing perusal of the daily news with what I can only call a work of art.

Daniel Radcliffe doesn’t understand “the fuss over the difference between stage acting and screen acting.”
The
Harry Potter
star, who makes his Broadway debut in a revival of Peter Shaffer’s
Equus
opening tonight at the Broadhurst Theatre, says the stage makes certain technical demands.
But Radcliffe, 19, dismisses the notion that live performance need be larger in scale or that doing eight shows a week requires more energy than a movie, “where there can be really long hours, and you might do 20 takes on any given shot.”

New names, familiar ones top poll of 25 young stars

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - They range from big stars like Daniel Radcliffe and Miley Cyrus to relative unknowns such as Gemma Arterton of new James Bond flick “Quantum of Solace,” but one thing they have in common is being young and hot in Hollywood, according to an online poll released on Wednesday.
AOL’s Moviefone.com offered its list of top 25 stars under age 25, and among popular celebrities including Oscar-nominated Keira Knightley, 23, and young Dakota Fanning, 14, there were up-and-comers such as Christopher Mintz-Plasse, 19, a.k.a. McLovin of last year’s movie comedy sensation, “Superbad.”
